Schweiz/Suisse
Hello from Helmut's farm in Stocken, Switzerland (near Lake Constance)! Yet another charming village, but this time with endless amounts (and varieties!) of the best tasting apples, pears, plums, berries, etc. We have been helping with apple picking, cider making and yard work. Spent yesterday afternoon at the St. Gallen summer festival and just returned from a walk to the Bodensee beach. Finally some summer temperatures so who knows, we may actually get to do a little swimming?!
The farm lies within some real Swiss countryside - several-hundred year-old half-timber homes with enormous barns, jagged Alps to the south, lake to the north, cow-bells in the distant fields and lots of church bells echoing throughout the day. Helmut keeps 17 milk cows (may learn some milking technique this week) and two goats. Also, many farm cats (one just had kittens, which Alyssa wants to adopt).
We're in the process of uploading more Paris photos, Swiss photos and various video clips, so check out the albums...
