Life in Ahmstorf

Hello from Ahmstorf! We were kindly driven to Harald and Ingrid's (Alyssa's cousins on the Heine side of the family) by Heinz and Irene -- in so doing the German Kühne and Heine clans met. Since then, we have been whisked around to meet a lot of family and to tour many quaint German villages and towns, including Celle and Wittenberg. Among other things, we have also learned how to make tofu, tried pickled herring with cream and home-brewed sloe-gin, and have eaten way too much küchen! Once again we are being spoiled :)

Miscellaneous details: Alyssa was treated to a nice German birthday which included lots of food and travels. Wolfsburg, nearby, is the VW capital of the world. We have also just been joined by Elisa, their daughter, who has returned home from 6 months in Australia.

We plan to stay another week-and-a-half before heading to the south of Switzerland. In the meantime, Pete will brushing up on his stick-shift driving.
