More Wales

Our time in Wales is drawing to a close surprisingly quickly. We managed to have five straight days of sun, which means much was accomplished. We've been digging planting beds for vegetables and fruit trees and assisting with sheep care. It has been a mixed week for the sheep: the high point was that two of the Belwen lambs were registered (basically they were certified to have the proper markings so that they can be used for breeding) and the low being two-fold - a sick young lamb (not foot-and-mouth) and the discovery of foot-and-mouth disease in England. Everyone is hoping that the disease hasn't spread (this could mean that many animals would have to be eliminated) -- and hopefully we don't have to destroy our new Wellies before travelling to France!

On a lighter note, we enjoyed Greg's birthday almost as much as he did: travelled to Carreg Cennen Castle (see the photo album), enjoyed Mexican food (authentic Texan-style) and local ice cream (including Frutti di Bosco!). Last night we out to a very small local pub in Cwmdu (pron. Com - dee) - 10 people were there and the room was packed. The town consists of one row of connected buildings about 100 ft long - with all the necessities (shop/post office, pub, chapel).

We head for London on Tuesday (Greg has to return to the office and has generously offered us a ride) and then on to Paris on Thursday!
